OVALPIX.com Is the site of Andy Hankin official Incarace photographer.
Here we are 2009 my 3rd season and what a fixture list , i'm going to be busy again.
I will be visiting other venues as well this year like Standlake, Kings Lynn ,Skegness
and any others I can fit in.
I was first introduced to the oval as a spectaor at the age of six! It was the Brandon meeting when Stu Smith 391 snr got band for going over the top of a car leaving his tyre marks on the roof.
My late father(a midland autocross champion) took us from one end of the country to the other to watch F1's including semi's and world finals.
My early recollations of bangers is that my brother raced for the Bedworth Barons a couple of times in a car built by the late Alan Venables, who built some of his car in my dads workshop of a night time.I also went to the last Brandon meeting before they finished racing bangers, i recall it being Nuneaton nutters v Coventry Avengers.
Then in 1992 I took to the wheel of a mates car at a charity meeting winning straight away. That drove me to the big stadiums where i was in several race result finishes but never clinched a win. Later racing also lightning rods, stock rods ,street stock and of course my Brisca f2.
Following a crash at Kings Lynn in 1996 and attempting to race again in 1998, I retired as at the time my back wouldnt take the knocks.
However I had been using a 35mm camera back in the 80's and after picking up my first digital compact ,decided to go back to the ovals and here i am today. |
